Kashagan Barges Project - Russia

No we are not that unlucky.  Fortunately for us we got to install this project firstly in glorious South Shields and secondly in sunny Aberdeen.  This huge fixed gas rig was produced for the Russian market.  Catershop designed, installed and fully project managed this technically difficult and massive project.

The Kashagan barge is accommodation module housing up to 250 men.  The final location for this module was on a man made island off the coast off Russia, the island has been made to protect rigs stationed there from being hit by icebergs.  The rig itself was designed and built to operate in extreme temperatures from -40°c to +24°c. The rig was built in a unique way by building and fitting out individual modules, the modules we then welded together as complete units before being loaded onto the specialist transportation barge.

On board the rig we created a unique modular 4 compartment cold and freezer room.  The entire galley has been fitted with stainless steel wall panels.  To compliment this Catershop designed and built specialist stainless steel service distribution units to encase all necessary services.  The extraction systems are all fitted with fire suppression systems for additional safety.

The cooking equipment is Mareno 900 series, the freestanding refrigeration cabinets including blast chill and rapid thaw cabinets were supplied by Foster Refrigerator, the combination ovens are Rational units, all the other equipment on board is of the heaviest available duty.  The galley installation, including all of the stainless steel fabrication will last 25 years.  This is the timescale before the unit is re-fitted again.

Catershop also designed and installed the full front of house servery system, associated ambient storage areas, and full laundry and laundry finishing facilities.
