Brasenose College
Catershop – ‘Commercial Catering Equipment Solutions’ Brasenose College, Oxford – Temporary Kitchen Facilities.
When Brasenose College approached Catershop in April 2009 with a requirement for providing temporary kitchen facilities, the response was in true Catershop tradition and demonstrated the ‘solution provider’ philosophy on which Catershop is based.
Some of the College criteria included:
A- A kitchen located in cabins not a marquee.
B- Cabins capable of being delivered to the Old Quad of the College without the use of a crane.
C- Delivery to the Old Quad through the Porters Lodge (2.8mts wide, 2.8mts high approx)
D- A kitchen layout that integrated all sections, not one based on modules linked with single width corridors.
A design was provided based on sixteen sectional cabins each 4.3mts x 2.3mts. The areas included a central cooking/preparation section, two further separate preparation areas, dry stores, walk in cold storage, wash up and servery.
For the first four months of the hire period, the kitchen will serve a temporary dining marquee via two covered tunnels. For the remainder of the hire the kitchen will serve the College dining hall, via an elevated covered walk way.
Provision of a full mechanical and electrical installation was also included within the package. For the duration of the installation Catershop provided on site management making sure the client was consulted/updated at every stage. The facility was completed on schedule and took a total of eighteen working days to complete.
Catershop continue to look for innovative and exacting solutions for the catering professional. The facilities provided to Brasenose College show the extent to which Catershop will go and that we never say NO until we have exhausted every possible avenue.
